Adam Braun, founder of Pencils for Promise, says he doesn't think of his charity as a "nonprofit." He thinks of it as a "for purpose" -- and his charity's purpose is to educate kids in need all over the world.

Braun got the idea for Pencils for Promise a few years ago while traveling in India. He met a little boy who was begging on the streets. Braun asked what he wanted, more than anything else in the world. The little boy said he wanted a pencil. Braun gave him his pencil and eventually went on to found Pencils of Promise. Today, 20,000 students are getting an education thanks to Braun and his charity.
